Julian Abraham 'Togar' (born in Medan, 1987) is an artist, a musician and a pseudo-scientist. Togar's works often contain words such as generative, manipulative and dematerialization. He often connects one thing to another, presenting them in complex algorithms to relate how art, environment, science and technology are related. This practice is Togar's effort to provide new tools to educate and involve artists and the community. Togar has participated in a two-year residency program at Rijksakademie, Amsterdam (2020-2022).
Togar has participated in several exhibitions, including KHOJ, New Delhi; Kedai Kebun Forum, Yogyakarta; Sydney Biennial; National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; National Gallery of Indonesia; SIGN, Groningen; Jogja Biennale - Equator Series; De Appel, Amsterdam; GEDEGAP, Medan; Moderna Galerija, Ljubljana; Auto Italia South East, London; RUBANAH Underground Hub, Jakarta; CEMETI Institute for Arts and Society, Yogyakarta; documenta 15; Milan Triennale; Istanbul Biennial; and the 58th Carnegie International (2022-2023).

This work is a temporary stopping space in a journey of memory around listening and being heard. It is appropriate for space to share its corners for the circulation of air, voice and sound. Sounds are organized to listen to each other and be heard as a part of everyday life. A kind of space for harmony between what moves and what stays.
Everyday life is used as a way to understand a world full of allusions. Each touch produces a sound. Sounds are recognized until they become voices. Sound is memory. Memories are cherished together. Wherever you go you will take them with you.
Like a moonlit night. Silence is like darkness without artificial light. Using the reflection of moonlight as a source of visual guidance. In harmony with the eyes, the ears require adjustment before they become sensitive again. Blending with the atmosphere, balancing each other between words and sounds, in a temporary time.
Through this work, Togar invites us to feel and understand sound, in an atmosphere full of intimacy. Sound is a medium to be absorbed so that its essence can be known, just like prophecy, which needs to be interpreted continuously according to the conditions of the times.
