Suara Keheningan (2024) by Agus Suwage and Titarubi

ARTJOG 2024 invited Agus Suwage and Titarubi as the commission artists to respond to this theme, presenting an interrelated idea through interactive installation works with various dimensions and media. Agus Suwage presents human ear objects as a symbol of the sense of hearing, which is very "tolerant" in our social space, which is full of noise. On the other hand, we can only examine bodily experience and experience silence through the sense of hearing. In the same room, Titarubi grows various types of rice accompanied by recordings of prayers, proverbs, and praise from indigenous groups. These can be heard in several rooms, including in those where the works of Agus Suwage are. The whole installation represents how humans understand a prophecy, as prayer is a hope for a desired situation. Apart from that, this work also marks their collaborative work since Singapore Biennale in Singapore in 2006.
